As boarders step up to Stuartholme for the first time, they embark on an adventure that shapes their futures and leaves an indelible mark on their hearts.
Leadership at Stuartholme is more than a classroom subject; it’s a cornerstone of our culture, woven into the fabric of daily life. From the day they join, students are encouraged to step into leadership roles, preparing them to excel.
“At Stuartholme, we believe every student has the potential to lead,” Jane Morris, Dean of Boarding, says.
“Our boarding house offers a unique environment where students can develop their leadership skills. We encourage all students to take on leadership roles, whether through formal positions or everyday actions that make a lasting impact.”
In addition to the Year 12 boarding students who become key role models in the Boarding House, opportunities such Boarder Mentors, which includes representatives from each year level, who meet regularly to discuss topics to enhance their boarding experience. This group is a critical part of the boarding community, providing a platform for every student to have a voice.
Being a Stuartholme girl means something. It’s a bond, a connection, an identity that you have for a lifetime. This sentiment is echoed by Stella Berge, Cor Unum Committee and Grenoble Boarding House Captain, from Mission Beach in Queensland.
“Your journey at Stuartholme doesn’t end with the final bell of Year 12; in some ways, it just begins. One of our Wisdom Women, Janet Erskine Stuart, once said, ‘Our education is not meant to turn the children out small and finished but seriously begun on a wide basis.’ The volume that this speaks is immense; it shows that the attributes of a Stuartholme girl, one that shows Courage, Confidence and Compassion, follows you as you leave the gates of Stuartholme,” Ms Berge says.
Mr Daniel Crump, Principal of Stuartholme, says that by fostering a supportive environment where students are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones, “our students embody the spirit of leadership in everything they do”.
“They are not just preparing for the future; they are shaping it, guided by the values of Stuartholme’s rich legacy.”
