Schools looking to improve spectator comfort and safety at sports days and outdoor events are set to benefit from a new grandstand seating range designed with structured, student-friendly environments in mind.
Australian manufacturer Felton Industries has launched its Elite grandstand range, introducing features aimed at enhancing usability, accessibility and long-term durability – key considerations for school settings where high traffic and varied audiences are common.
The range replaces traditional plank-style seating with individual plastic bucket seats, allowing for a more organised layout and clearer seating allocation. This structured approach is particularly relevant for schools managing large crowds during events such as athletics carnivals, assemblies and interschool competitions, where defined seating can support supervision and capacity management.
A deeper structural profile also improves legroom and ease of movement between rows – an important factor in busy school environments where students, staff and families frequently enter and exit seating areas. The addition of a reinforced backrest further enhances comfort, helping create a more supportive experience for spectators across extended periods.
Felton Industries Product Marketing Manager Mr Simon Clayton said the design reflects changing expectations around spectator seating.
“The Elite range reflects how spectator expectations are changing. Venues want seating that lasts and improves comfort and usability. By introducing individual seats and increasing the depth of the structure, we’ve created a solution that supports both,” he said.
The grandstand is structurally certified for public use and typically installed as a fixed structure for stability, which is another important safety consideration for schools. Optional sleds are also available for sites that require flexibility, such as multi-use outdoor areas.
Constructed from aluminium, the seating is designed to withstand Australian weather conditions while minimising maintenance requirements – an ongoing priority for schools balancing budget constraints with the need for durable infrastructure.
With demand growing for facilities that support both functionality and user experience, the new range highlights how schools are continuing to invest in infrastructure that enhances student and community engagement at outdoor events.
