My Room Children’s Cancer Charity, which benefits families who are battling childhood cancer, is inviting schools to participate in its 2024 ‘Footy Day Parade with a Purpose’.

To participate, Principals, PE teachers or student wellbeing leaders need to register their school’s expression of interest here by June 21, 2024.

When students participate in the ‘Footy Day Parade with a Purpose’, My Room ask that the school community donates gold coins to support the charity.

“We know that most schools have their Footy Day Parade in the last week of Term 3, close to the AFL Grand Final. However, schools are welcome to host their parade at an appropriate time that suits them,” My Room said.

“Alternatively, if a school does not host a Footy Day Parade, we welcome other charitable initiatives to ensure their contribution to our mission. Any donation, big or small, makes an impact to My Room.”

The charity said the event will be its most exciting project yet, as it partners with Victorian primary schools to promote the importance of children helping other children.

Through My Room’s collaboration with its AFL Ambassadors and its media partner, The Nine Network, My Room achieves significant fundraising milestones, particularly during The Footy Show’s Grand Final eve My Room Telethon, held in September.

“This platform serves as a powerful means to amplify My Room’s mission and to raise the much-needed funds to support all families affected by childhood cancer,” the charity said.

“To express our gratitude for participating in our fundraising event, the grand total of the funds raised from our ‘Footy Day Parade with a Purpose’ in 2024 will be acknowledged live on The Footy Show’s Grand Final eve My Room Telethon on Channel 9 in September.

“The school that contributes the largest donation will have the honour of sending representatives to sit in the live studio audience on the day of the Telethon. The school will also receive a $2,000 voucher from JB Hi-Fi.”

My Room Children’s Cancer Charity

My Room Children’s Cancer Charity was founded in 1993 by families to support children and their families living with cancer.

My Room understands the impacts of childhood cancer and their goal is to bring hope and respite to those in need. They believe every child deserves a fighting chance.

My Room Children’s Cancer Charity is a volunteer led organisation, working together to support patients and families affected by cancer, without the bureaucracy.

It relies on the generosity of donors to fund support for families, medical equipment, clinical care, research and trials. It is committed to raising funds ethically and in a cost-effective manner.

My Room has a full-time executive and administers over 95 per cent of donations directly to the projects it funds. The charity holds a deductible gift recipient status (DGR1) and is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.

A My Room Footy Day Parade representative will be in touch with all registered schools.
