Queensland’s Minister for Education Mr John-Paul Langbroek has released a statement this week regarding Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) negotiations.
Mr Langbroek said the Crisafulli Government is committed to reaching an agreement as soon as possible to provide certainty and stability for Queensland’s teaching workforce.
In a statement released on 28 July, he said the Department of Education has requested conciliation through the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission, to continue progressing this agreement.
“We remain at the table to finalise an agreement and continue to negotiate with the Queensland Teachers’ Union (QTU) in good faith,” Mr Langbroek said.
“Our most recent offer represents a significant investment in our teaching workforce, delivers substantial improvements to workplace conditions, responds directly to key priorities raised by the QTU and supports the continued delivery of high-quality education in state schools.
“The offer builds on initiatives already underway to strengthen professional recognition and deliver more teachers and safer classrooms, including a landmark Behaviour Boost program and an Anti-Bullying Action Plan, a major increase in Workplace Health and Safety Officers, 15 new schools, new school chaplains, additional teacher aides and teachers.
“The Queensland Industrial Relations Commission will begin a conciliation process, as we work towards an agreement to make our teachers well-resourced and respected,” he said.
