More than 4000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to Northern Territory children aged between 12 and 15.
Over 26 per cent of Northern Territory kids 12-15 have received their first dose of the vaccine, while more than 4 per cent are fully vaccinated.
The Territory was the first jurisdiction to collapse the tranches to this age group last month. NT Health has already provided students at 18 Territory schools with their first dose. More students will be vaccinated in Term Four.
In addition, over 74 per cent of Territorians aged 16 and over have received their first dose, while more than 59 per cent are fully vaccinated.
The Moderna vaccine arrived in the Territory last week, bolstering supplies and increasing vaccine choice for the community.
NT Minister for Health Natasha Fyle said the NT Health teams are working diligently to provide the vaccine in schools, to ensure we are adding an extra layer of protection for younger Territorians.
“If you haven’t already, please book in your appointment – it is our best defence and best tool to re-open on the other side of this pandemic. You’re not only protecting yourself, but you’re protecting the community,” she said.
The COVID-19 vaccine is safe, free, effective and widely available at NT COVID-19 vaccine clinics, Pharmacies, GP clinics and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.
