A new Australian-built platform designed to simplify access to teacher professional development (PD) has launched, offering a centralised directory of courses, events and resources.
TeacherPD Australia, founded by classroom teacher Mr James David, launched in March and brings together professional learning opportunities into a single, searchable platform organised by subject area and state.
Mr David said the platform was created in response to the fragmented way teachers currently find professional learning.
“Right now, finding PD means trawling through provider websites, Facebook groups and word of mouth,” he said. “I wanted to make it genuinely easier for Australian teachers to find quality professional development in one place.”
The platform is free for teachers and allows users to search for courses, events and resources, including books and podcasts. Listings include both online and face-to-face options across different subject areas and locations.
According to Mr David, the platform is still in its early stages, with providers listing courses across all states and territories.
Since launching, TeacherPD Australia has announced a number of early partnerships and collaborations. Teacher Training Australia, ClassCover Learn, the National Education Summit and Education Today have joined as premier partners. BOP Industries has come on board as a foundation member, while educators Dr Tim Kitchen and Matt Esterman have also joined the platform.
The organisation has also expanded its presence online, with TeacherPD Australia now active on social media as it prepares for wider engagement with teachers and school leaders.
“We’re gearing up for a big push to teachers and school leaders,” Mr David said, adding the platform is “building momentum quickly.”
