Monash University has been ranked 58th in the QS World University Rankings 2022, ranking sixth in Australia and Oceania.

The University’s overall score increased from 70.9 to 72.2, once again achieving perfect scores for both International Students and International Faculty, ranking 17 and 42 in the world respectively. Academic Reputation closely followed, ranking 48 with an impressive score of 88.9.

Monash University president and vice-chancellor professor Margaret Gardner said the results demonstrate the University’s ability to maintain its world-class performance in such challenging and uncertain times.

“For the past five years, Monash has consistently placed in the QS World University Rankings’ top 60 institutions, maintaining our global reputation for excellence and innovation, particularly while weathering the COVID-19 pandemic,” Gardner said.

“This record of success is a testament to our academic and professional staff who remain dedicated to producing high-quality outcomes in education and research across the world.”

The QS World University Rankings’ methodology is compiled using six simple metrics to effectively capture university performance: Academic Reputation (40 per cent weighting); Employer Reputation (10 per cent weighting); Citations per Faculty (20 per cent weighting); Faculty/Student Ratio (20 per cent weighting); International Faculty Ratio (5 per cent weighting) and International Students Ratio (5 per cent weighting).

Monash also featured prominently among the world’s elite institutions in the recent QS World University Rankings by subject, placing in the top 100 in 43 of the subjects listed.

Pharmacy and Pharmacology remains Monash’s strongest performing subject category, placing second in the world for the last two years.
