Helping children develop a love for reading is one of the most powerful ways to support their learning journey.

Reading Planet is a comprehensive reading programme designed for ages 3–11, created in collaboration with literacy experts, authors, and partner schools. Its mission is to make reading enjoyable, accessible, and inspiring for every child.

With 800+ books written and illustrated by a diverse team, interactive online resources for school and home, and affordable options to suit every budget, Reading Planet offers everything teachers and parents need to nurture confident, enthusiastic readers.

A programme for every stage

Reading Planet is structured into six strands, each tailored to support learners at different stages of their reading development:

  • Lift-Off
Perfect for ages 3–4, Lift-Off introduces essential early language skills and explores Letters and Sounds Phase 1. These books provide an ideal foundation for phonics teaching and can be used alongside the Rocket Phonics First Steps programme or as a standalone series.
  • Rocket Phonics
Designed for ages 3–7, Rocket Phonics combines a proven story-based approach with systematic phonics teaching. Its goal is simple: to help every child become a lifelong reader and writer while making phonics fun and engaging.
  • Comet Street Kids
This action-packed series for ages 4–7 follows a group of friends on exciting adventures. Written by children’s authors Adam and Charlotte Guillain, these highly decodable books enrich vocabulary and support phonics learning.
  • Galaxy
A treasure trove of fiction and non-fiction for ages 4–7, Galaxy offers a wide range of genres and themes to spark curiosity. These expertly levelled books build fluency, stamina, and subject knowledge across the curriculum.
  • Cosmos
For readers aged 7–11, Cosmos opens up new worlds with age-appropriate fiction and non-fiction. Covering global themes and diverse topics, this strand helps learners develop confidence and broaden their horizons.
  • Astro
Also for ages 7–11, Astro offers dual-banded books that combine lower reading levels with age-appropriate content. The first 24 titles are highly decodable, making them perfect for phonics practice and revision.

Whether you’re looking to boost phonics attainment, expand vocabulary, or simply ignite a love of reading, Reading Planet has something for every learner. Explore the full programme and discover how it can transform reading in your classroom or home.
