Australian teachers are invited to explore the cutting edge of quantum science and technology at a free one-day professional learning event in Sydney this November.
Teachers of STEM subjects, science, mathematics and technological and applied Studies (TAS), those interested in quantum, as well as career advisers, are invited to join the event – Quantum: From classroom to future careers – taking place Monday 24 November 2025 at CSIRO, West Lindfield.
After inspirational talks, in the morning, attendees can choose from a range of activities, including:
- Hands-on experiences: Quantum tech demos and activities, offering some ideas for the classroom.
- Tour cutting-edge labs: Usually off limits to the public, this will take people into the heart of innovation and advanced technology.
After lunch, attendees can meet the experts, pathfinders, and talk with people working in different areas of quantum science, technologies and industries. These include:
- Business development – connecting technology with markets, customers and governments
- Chief operating officers and operations leads – running a quantum start-up, manufacturing hub and scaling up.
- Quantum engineering – turning science into usable technology (hardware, software, systems).
- Quantum scientists/researchers – advancing the science, often with PhDs.
- Software development – coding for quantum and classical integration.
- HR, accountants and data analytics personnel, to management consultants, policy advisors and science communicators.
“Create your own infographic on opportunities and career possibilities for your students,” organisers said.
“Workshop and network with fellow teachers to explore and construct the vast array of possibilities. Develop how to help your students to see the possibilities in quantum science and technology, and area of burgeoning careers.”
Attendance is free, but registration is essential. Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
