School leaders across Australia now have access to a new suite of leadership resources designed to support whole-school curriculum planning and the implementation of the Australian Curriculum.
Developed and published by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA), the resources provide practical tools and expert guidance to help school and curriculum leaders build teacher capability, strengthen teacher collaboration when curriculum planning, and support effective curriculum implementation.
The new curriculum leadership resources cover eight key aspects of curriculum planning and implementation: building teacher capability; using the Australian Curriculum; sequencing learning; including all learners; aligning curriculum and assessment; planning for multi-age classes; engaging with the community; evaluating resources
Each of sections includes downloadable tools, guiding questions, planning templates, workshop materials and practical examples that schools can adapt to their own context.
ACARA’s Chief Executive Officer Stephen Gniel highlighted how the resources were developed in response to feedback from educators and school leaders seeking practical support for curriculum implementation.
“ACARA is committed to providing practical resources that support high-quality teaching and learning. That’s why our new Curriculum leadership resources have been created to help school leaders foster collaborative approaches to curriculum planning in their implementation of the Australian Curriculum,’’ said Mr Gniel.
“Developed in partnership with primary and secondary school educators from across Australia, these new resources provide guidance and tools that schools can adapt to their own context. They are designed to strengthen whole-school approaches to curriculum planning, and help teachers focus on delivering engaging learning experiences for their students.”
